Our first exploration takes us to the fascinating prehistoric and natural caves of the region, including the caves of Blaz, Këputë, Nezir and Valit.

Walk into landscapes shaped by nature over thousands of years and discover traces of a much older Albania.

Explore the mysterious world beneath the mountains, where rock formations, natural passages and archaeological heritage create a truly different travel experience.

After our cave exploration, enjoy a packed lunch surrounded by nature.

🏔️ URAKA CANYON

Continue towards the spectacular Uraka Canyon, where cliffs, water and lush vegetation create an impressive natural landscape.

Take a walk through the surroundings, enjoy the fresh mountain air and keep your eyes open for the region’s wildlife and birdlife.

🌲 ULËZ — MOUNTAINS MEET THE LAKE

Continue to the peaceful mountain town of Ulëz, surrounded by forests, mountains and the beautiful waters of Ulëz Lake.

Enjoy a relaxing boat experience on Ulëz Lake, taking in the panoramic mountain scenery from the water.

🌊 SHKOPET GORGE

The adventure continues towards the dramatic Shkopet Gorge, where steep mountains, rocky cliffs and the lake create one of Mat’s most spectacular landscapes.

Finish the day’s exploration with another memorable boat experience on Shkopet Lake.

Then settle into a traditional guesthouse in Ulëz.

Discover the remains and historical traces connected with the royal family and learn about the fascinating relationship between Albania’s former monarchy and the Mat region.

Continue through the mountain landscape to Guri i Gjatë, where a striking image associated with Skanderbeg appears on the rock.

Here, nature, history and local tradition come together in one unusual landscape.

⛰️ MACUKULL & MOUNTAIN PANORAMAS

Travel through spectacular mountain scenery with panoramic views towards Mount Dejë and Macukull.

Discover the traditional stone towers of Macukull — impressive examples of the architecture and lifestyle of the mountain communities of Mat.

Take time to walk, photograph the landscape and experience the silence of rural Albania.

📜 THE “BAPTISMAL FORMULA”

Continue to Dazjanë, associated with the history of the “Baptismal Formula” of Pal Engjëlli, dated to 1462 and recognised as the earliest known written document in the Albanian language.

For history and culture lovers, this is a fascinating connection with the deep roots of Albanian identity and language.

⚔️ VINJOLL — LOCAL STORIES & LEGENDS

Continue towards Vinjoll and the site traditionally known as “The Turk’s Grave”, a place surrounded by local stories and oral traditions.

🏰 STELLUSH CASTLE & VAROSH

The adventure continues to the remains of Stellush Castle and the ancient settlement of Varosh.

Walk among the surviving ruins and discover traces of Mat’s medieval past.

⚔️ GURI I PREMË — WHERE LEGEND MEETS THE LANDSCAPE

Finish the day with one of Mat’s most intriguing legends.

According to local tradition, Skanderbeg struck a rock with his sword, leaving the mark that became associated with the name “Guri i Premë.”

Whether history or legend, these stories have survived for generations — giving the mountains of Mat an atmosphere that cannot be found on an ordinary tourist route.
